Roy’s Motel & Cafe
$100.00 – $450.00
Limited Edition Fine Art Photography Print
Description
Located in the Mojave Desert, and one of my favorite living film noir roadside attractions, Roy’s Motel & Café was created in the early 1940’s in the small mining town of Amboy. I’ve never visited when the café is open during daylight hours, but at night the classic arrowhead neon creates a cinematic dreamworld, where you can imagine the likes of Veronica Lake and Victor Mature appearing out of the shadows lighting a cigarette, punctuated by a classic Chandler-esque one-liner. And while I’m overjoyed the conservationist Albert Okura (owner & operator of the orginal McDonald’s in San Bernadino, no less), I’d much rather visit at night and let my imagination take me into the story…
